The Cervelt Fibre

CERVELT™ : TECHNICAL DATA ON THE FIBRE

  • Fineness: 13 microns (it is finer than cashmere which is 15-16 microns). The diameter remains the same throughout the fibre and has an average length of 25mm
  • The fibre is not straight, but has a wavy curl
  • Performance: the fibre is strong and resilient
  • Characteristics: the fibre is very warm even when the fabric or knitwear is very fine.  It allows the body to breathe by moving moisture away to the outer layer of the fabric
  • Touch: impalpable and very soft
  • At present, 1,000 kg of the fibre are produced each year for processing into yarns and fabrics. Douglas Creek is increasing its capacity to allow for a larger fibre production but quantities of the fibre will remain limited.

Cervelt™  has been called the diamond of clothing because it is

  • 200 times rarer than gold
  • 3,000  times rarer than cashmere
  • almost 2.5 times rarer than diamonds

CERVELT™ : FROM FIBRE TO YARN

  • Cervelt fibre is always pure, and can be spun into very fine counts.
  • The yarn has broad application in men’s and women’s knitwear, fabrics and accessories.  It can also be used in luxury furnishings
  • The yarn can also be dyed into almost any colour, unlike some other natural fibres
